With the UK government announcement easing restrictions for the property industry, we are now in a position to re-open our offices and resume traditional estate/letting agency practices. We will be adhering to the strict government advice on social distancing. The health and safety of our staff, clients and customers is of the upmost importance whilst we continue to help you navigate the property market.
Please consider the following Covid-19 FAQs.
Who can currently view a property or have viewings take place in their property?
Anyone that does not pose a direct risk of transmitting Covid-19 and who is not self-isolating. The government suggests that those who are shielding or vulnerable should seek medical advice and carefully consider their circumstances before engaging with the property market
Can I now move home?
Yes. The government has eased lockdown restrictions so that traditional estate/letting agency practices can resume from 13 May 2020. Provided social distancing guidelines are followed, moving home, property viewings and market appraisals are permitted.
I am not yet on the market; can I view a property?
No. At present, speculative viewings are not allowed and only proceedable buyers will be permitted to view properties. If you would like to list your property, please talk to us for a free market appraisal.
How can I arrange a viewing?
All viewings will take place by appointment and only involve members of a single household. We ask that you are not accompanied by children during a viewing to minimise risk. Prior to any viewing taking place, both parties will be contacted and asked to confirm they have not presented any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 in the last 7 days. No viewing will go ahead if either party has shown symptoms or have been self-isolating.
How will viewings be conducted?
When a viewing takes place, we will ask you to comply with government guidelines that will include avoiding touching surfaces, following 2m social distancing rules and wearing a face mask. Full details will be provided to you upon confirmation of your viewing.
Do I need to vacate my property before a viewing takes place?
We would encourage you to vacate your property whilst viewings are taking place in order to minimise your contact with those not in your household. If this is not possible, we would encourage you to maintain the 2m social distancing rules by waiting in the garden or in separate rooms.
What do I need to do to prepare for viewings?
Please open all the internal doors prior to the viewing, and allow access to handwashing facilities with ideally separate towels/paper towels being made available. Once the viewing has taken place, please ensure surfaces, such as door handles, are cleaned with standard household cleaning products and towels disposed of safely or washed as appropriate.
Who will be allowed into my property?
Prospective buyers or renters (including those of the same household who must be there), estate agents, conveyancers, surveyors, tradespeople and removal workers.
How have your working practices changed to ensure the safety of your estate agents?
All our branches are being risk assessed with the correct signage being put in place to ensure all visitors and staff members adhere to the government guidelines. In addition, all staff members have been adequately supplied with PPE which includes face masks and hand sanitizer. We will also be on guard to ensure viewings are kept brief and there is minimal contact with any surfaces.
As ever, our team are on hand to answer questions, so should you need anything please do not hesitate to contact us. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time as we adjust to the new guidance.
