Things to do

Towcester is a thriving and vibrant market town with many independent shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants. The town holds regular antique, farmer and country markets as well as a range of family friendly festivals and nearby country shows. There are also local pubs and shops selling locally sourced produce which really gives the area a countryside feel.

The historic town of Towcester was once a thriving coaching route along the ancient Roman road, Watling Street, and it lays claim to being one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the country. Its origins can be traced back to the middle stone age and there is also evidence of Iron Age burials in the area. You can find out more about the history of the town at the Towcester Museum located in the town centre.
